ESPN據知情人透露，籃網與灰熊最近正在商討一個潛在的交易，把昔日的全明星後衛喬-強森（Joe Johnson）送至灰熊。

不過，雙方暫時無法尋找到可行的交易方案，擱置起來，但知情人表示，籃網對於找到一支球隊接手強森的大合約還是充滿信心的。因為強森的合約只剩下最後1年（薪資2490萬美元）。

2012年夏天，籃網通過先簽後換的方式從老鷹交易來強森，他在籃網效力3季，平均15.5分、3.3助攻、3.8籃板。

灰熊季後賽不敵勇士後，今夏尋求更多的外線火力。

除了灰熊外，黃蜂、活塞在近幾月也打聽過強森的情況，表達過交易來這位明星後衛的興趣，現在他們都做了交易，對強森興趣不大。
