台北時間9月17日上午，智利發生了芮氏規模8.3強震，之後還出現多次強大餘震，規模更達到6.4左右。距離首都聖地牙哥233公里的震央地帶，建築物更是倒成一片，沿岸城市也出現4尺高的海嘯，目前已傳出至少5人死亡、20人受傷，上百萬人被迫撤離。
